13.3 Transformations Activities

Objectives:

Students will be able to identify and perform translations, reflections, and rotations on geometric figures accurately.

Transformation Activities.

  1. Transformation Bingo: Create Bingo cards with various transformations (translations, reflections, rotations) and corresponding descriptions. Students mark off the transformations as they are performed on different shapes.

  2. Transformation Art: Have students create artwork using transformations. They can start with a basic shape and apply multiple transformations to create a unique piece of art.

  3. Transformation Scavenger Hunt: Hide various transformed shapes around the classroom or school grounds. Provide clues that describe the transformations applied to each shape. Students have to find and identify the transformed shapes.

  4. Transformation Memory Game: Create cards with images of shapes before and after transformations. Students have to match the shape with its transformed version, practicing identifying different types of transformations.

  5. Digital Transformation Puzzles: Use online tools or apps that allow students to interactively explore transformations by dragging and rotating shapes to see how they change.
